ILU Kitengela-The Seat of the University

Welcome to ILU Kitengela

The Seat of the University

Construction of the academic block

The story of the International Leadership University (ILU) Kitengela Campus

The Seat of the University is one of faith, learning, and character, being woven together to shape Christ-centred leaders of integrity for Africa and the world. ILU acquired 50 acres of land in Kitengela, Kajiado County, in 2007 with the support of partners who believed in the future of leadership education in Africa. Years later, in December 2021, the groundbreaking ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter for the University. Phased construction commenced in 2022, not merely as an infrastructure project, but as the realization of a long-held vision.

Today, that vision is becoming a reality.

ILU Kitengela

Phase One is complete, with the first block standing as a visible testimony of faith, partnership, and perseverance. The Kitengela facility now hosts the School of Education and Social Sciences, marking a significant milestone in ILU’s growth and expansion. The Seat of International Leadership University is an example of a Green Campus, fully powered by solar, with waste managed through a biodigester and recycling of water. The facility will continue to develop into a fully integrated learning environment featuring climate-smart IT-enabled academic and research facilities, a conference and retreat centre, a chapel, a health facility, sports infrastructure, an early childhood development school, and environmental living lab systems that reflect biblical stewardship and sustainability. Beyond serving students, the campus will also contribute to the surrounding community through education, employment opportunities, and meaningful engagement.

A Culture of Stewardship: #Greenkitengela

Alongside physical development, ILU has remained committed to environmental stewardship through the #GreenKitengela initiative. Over the past years, the University has planted thousands of trees in partnership with Equity Bank, Green Africa Foundation, the ILU Student Association, ILU Sustainability Club, and initiatives led by the ILU Advancement Division. The facilities will be further developed through the ILU Institute for Sustainability and Climate Action. Each tree planted reflects a conviction that leadership includes caring for creation and building a future that is both intellectually and environmentally sustainable.

Partnership Woven into the Journey

The Kitengela Campus is the product of a shared vision. Over the years, partners have walked this journey through prayer, generosity, influence, and active participation. In July 2024, ILU hosted a Partners Appreciation Day at the Kitengela Campus, providing supporters with an opportunity to witness firsthand how the vision was taking shape. Through vision-casting forums such as the Family Stewardship Weekend, partners’ dinners, breakfast meetings, fundraising initiatives, art auctions, and other strategic engagements, this story continues to be written together with those committed to investing in future generations.

The story of Kitengela campus is still unfolding.

With Phase One complete and academic life already active, the campus is steadily growing into its full identity as the Seat of the University, a place where leaders are formed for Africa and the world. ILU continues to invite individuals, corporates, churches, and institutions to partner through Time, Influence, Material Support, and Expertise, helping to expand this vision and its impact. Because in Kitengela, more than a campus is being built.

A legacy is being shaped. Partner with ILU Today
